Velvet Dress Season Is Here
With the Halloween season fast
approaching, it is natural to bring out that your grotesque looks. The best way
to do this while not feeling too mysterious is to wear a plain velvet dress.
Velvet has this charming Goth feels, and with amazing on-trend silhouettes, you
won’t have to add any hat.
Selecting a party season steps that
stands out without appearing to be bragging can prove to be tough. With velvet,
getting it right makes you look lavish and affluent, but if you get it wrong,
you end making a mess of yourself. Opulently smooth, soft too and always
adorned with a clever gloss, velvet is a statement fabric that is sure to get
you noticed in any gathering.
If you’re seeking to take a
cautious step into the world of velvet without losing the fabric’s full appeal,
it is better to add a velvet accessory or detail to your look. Recognizable
options include a velvet bow tie or perhaps a velvet-covered cuff links, but
you could so creative by trying out your hand on something astonishing like a
velvet pocket square, velvet contrast lapels or possibly a pair of velvet
slippers. Each of these options would lend your costume a clever impression of
luxury while still being within the limit of a classic evening wear. You can either
pick one of these elements or elect to incorporate all of them at the same
time- having the good taste to keep each of your velvet accents in the same
colour.
Pulling off velvet footwear,
especially formal slippers, is certainly more challenging, both regarding the
poise required and the post-festivity aftercare. However, a pair of velvet
shoes is the perfect accompaniment to modest velvet jacket and wool trousers
combo, for a look that’s formal but not as trivially black tie.
A velvet dress can be very
attractive and enchanting, and it’s important you care for your velvet
accessories correctly if you’re so lucky to find a choice velvet dress in good
condition. The blend of fibers that make up velvet (including silk, wool and
cotton) can present a very challenging task of caring for your velvet dress. If
your velvet dress is timeworn and you want superior cleaning, you should take
your velvet dress to the dry cleaner. However, if you can’t go to the dry
cleaner immediately or there is a spill on your dress you want to fix right
away, you can clean your velvet dress at home with the following steps I will
be sharing with you. To make this work, you just need a few items:
delicate-care laundry detergent, soft white cloth, fabric hanger, tub or basin,
fabric refresher spray, and clothing steamer. If all the items are available,
you just have to follow the following steps to home-clean your velvet dress and
look as elegant as you can be wearing them.
Step 1
Mix one teaspoon of the delicate
care laundry detergent with two cups of water in the tub.
Step 2
Dip a soft white cloth into the
water and make sure you squeeze it properly. Gently wipe any stains with the
white cloth. Please, do not rub the white cloth on the velvet, as this can
squash the velvet. Repeat this action until the stains are completely gone.
Step 3
Rinse the white cloth with cold
water, squeeze it and wipe the spots again to take off any soap left on the
cloth. Repeat this action until all the leftover soap has been removed.
Step 4
Make sure the steamer is filled
with water, plug it in and wait for the steam to start flowing from the tap.
The steamer should be held about 7 inches away from the dress and stream from
the bottom of the dress to the neckline. This freshens the dress and removes any
possible wrinkles.
Step 5
You can hang the dress on a hanger
outside and leave it there to dry for about an hour so that odors can be
removed and any moisture from the steam can be dried as well.
Step 6
Turn the dress inside out and
lightly spray the fabric fresher on any parts of the dress that have a bad
smell.
